Its been awhile since I have posted, but that’s because I have been busy trying out some a new idea. A few years ago, I tried carving my own stamps, but wasn’t too good at it. For some reason, I wanted to try again. I got the right tools this time. I got lino cutting tools and lino blocks. It was much easier this time for some reason. I wanted to see how they would work on fabric. It worked much better than I thought. There were still some errors in my trials. I know that I shouldn’t use a sponge roller to apply the paint to the lino block. It is too soft and the paint gets on the negative areas of the stamp. If I don’t pay attention, the paint is then transfered to the fabric. I still like how my onesies turned out though. Since it happened more than once and some of the stamps came out a little faded or didn’t print completely, it gives it a vintage/distressed look. Check them out!
Busy busy busy! January 21, 2010
Well, one of my new year’s resolutions was to create at least one item a day. Some of them have been the same design, but multiples of it. I have worked on a few new things though. I tried my hand at baby bootie/shoes. They are so much fun.
I created a Valentine onesie.
The last new design is my little blue bird onesie.
Crafts crafts crafts crafts crafts!!!! December 23, 2009
Finally!!!!! I am done with all the Christmas presents. I decided that for Christmas this year I was going to try to make something for all my family for gifts. I wasn’t able to get to everyone, but they are still getting some awesome gifts. First up, the photo collages for the grandparents of the newest edition, my son.
Next, I made some charms for my step mother. She is a lover of all animals, but definitely her horses. I made a cow, boot, hat, spur, and horse.
Especially for my mother, I made her a heart necklace that has my thumb print and her grandson’s thumb print.
For my step grandmother, I appliqued a penguin onto a shirt and crocheted an amigurumi penguin. She loves penguins if you haven’t already guessed.
For the nephews, I made fleece hats.
For the step sisters, I made cowls. They seems to be very fashionable around the handmade world. I hope they like them.
Last, but certainly not least, that I made this year was sugar-free truffles for my step dad. They sure are tasty! I had to taste one. I don’t like giving a food gift without tasting it. I would feel so bad if it didn’t come out right and didn’t know it until they tasted it.
Now, the non-handmade gifts were a Wii game for one of my brothers and his girlfriend, and some Indian foods for the other brother. He is the chef in the family but lives in a smaller city that doesn’t have much world fare. I can’t wait til tomorrow. I am traveling home and spending Christmas with the family. Hope you and yours have a great break and enjoy the holidays! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
New Holiday Addition! November 30, 2009
This is my newest holiday addition. This cute little reindeer is just letting Santa know that he has been very VERY good!
Amigurumi Animals! November 16, 2009
I have always thought that Amigurumi animals were the cutest thing. I decided to try my hand at it. The characters that you see bellow are 100% original (no patterns-all free hand). These characters are from some of the onesies I have made. I really wanted to see them in 3D. They are so cute. I love making amigurumi animals. I wonder what animal to do next.
Other Characters! November 11, 2009
Once I realized that I have a market for my designs, I tried coming up with other characters. These are the newest additions. There will always be more to come.
My first blanket! November 11, 2009
This was the first blanket I made, and this was my first sale on Ebay.
The first appliques! November 11, 2009
Before Mama Dee’s Boutique came about, I made a few onesies for my unborn son. I wanted him to have some clothes that no one else had. I showed them to my family and they all loved them. My sister, Michele, had the grand idea that I sell them. She was my first customer. She bought 2 shirts for her two adorable boys. I thought I would give the internet a shot and try to sell on ebay. Once I sold my first item on ebay, I was even more excited to come up with other designs. The photos following are the first appliques I did. I hope you enjoy. Please, let me know what you think.
